Schönbrunn Palace was built in the 18th century as a summer residence for Empress (actually Kaisergattin and Archduchess) Maria Theresa. It is the largest castle and one of the most important and most visited cultural treasures of Austria. The castle and the 160-acre park have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1996.
